Keeping you updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood
I hope to use this email newsletter as a way to keep everyone updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood. I promise not to spam you all and would love feedback on what to include!
Construction for Streetscape and Drainage Project
Lots of positive change has been happening that can be difficult in the short-term to navigate. The Cleveland Park Streetscape and Drainage Project is in full swing on the west side of Connecticut Avenue. While some of the sidewalk is now open, DDOT is hoping to be done with this portion in 4-5 weeks. They’ve put double the number of workers to speed up. I am also tired of the construction, but the picture below shows how great it will look once done later this year!
Our next ANC Meeting is February 22
Commissioner Pagats and I will be presenting a Resolution Calling for Greater Transparency and Action to Address Sidewalk Repairs, Sidewalk Gaps, and Pedestrian Infrastructure. Feel free to provide comments to all@anc3c.org! Emails in support really help.
Starting a tenants’ association at the Parkway
On Friday, I held a meeting with Borger Management, the Mayor’s Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS), Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Department of Buildings (DOB), and Office of Tenant Advocate (OTA) regarding safety after the shooting the night of January 23rd. We have a number of follow-ups, including starting a tenants’ association. If you live in the Parkway and would like to join, please let me know. If you live in another building and would like to start a tenants’ association, please reach out to me so I can help.
Update on Rodman St. NW and Reno Rd. NW Traffic Safety
After working with community members to pass an ANC Resolution Requesting Traffic Safety Investigation and Installation of HAWK Signal and/or Other Pedestrian Measures on Reno Rd. NW intersection with Rodman St. NW, we have an update from District Department of Transportation (DDOT). The engineering team had commissioned a full signal warrant analyses study for this intersection. The consulting team is still working to finalize the report, and we will share the findings soon as it becomes available.
How to help the neighborhood this week
If you can, please order food from Cracked Eggery. They are feeling the pressure of construction and have lost a lot of foot traffic. They also close at 3pm on weekdays now instead of 8pm. All the extra business helps!
This week’s super constituent!
I cannot do my work without your help, so each newsletter I will celebrate a constituent who helped make our neighborhood better. Aurora was walking along the sidewalk under construction and noticed the newsstands were blocking an already narrow pedestrian path. She also had a great idea on the sidewalk slope to stop water from pooling and a better location for the trashcan. I conveyed her ideas to the project team, and they implemented them immediately! So if you see a clear path when walking in front of Indique, please be sure to thank Aurora!
