Easter Egg Hunt at Tregaron Conservancy a Huge Success!
Tregaron Conservancy hosted its annual Easter Egg Hunt yesterday at 10 am. It was my first one attending as the ANC Representative of Tregaron, and I was amazed at the fun and excitement! My personal guess was about 200 people and over 3500 eggs to find. Credit goes to Executive Director Lynn Parseghian for leading this effort and all the volunteers who helped organize this free event for the community. Tregaron regularly organizes many such events, and is such a wonderful public space for people. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to donate to Tregaron. Each dollar counts and the number of donations really helps them show their impact to the community.

Items for next ANC 3C meeting April 19th
At our next meeting, we will be considering the following items. If you would like to provide input on any of these, please let me know!
Requesting the District Department of Transportation and Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Restore Secure Bicycle Lockers to the Cleveland Park Metro Station: This has been discussed at the last transportation committee meeting and will be discussed this Wednesday as well if people have additional comments.
2023-DRAFT ADU Reform Resolution: This was discussed at PZHED Meeting Monday, April 3rd and you can watch a recording of the meeting here. [Sponsored by Commissioner Pagats]
Regarding Racial and Demographic Impact Analysis of Historic Districts: This was first proposed last fall and since then has gone through feedback from the community through public meetings and discussions. It was last discussed at PZHED Meeting Monday, April 3rd and you can watch a recording of the meeting here. [Sponsored by me and Commissioner Pagats]
Resolution Regarding District of Columbia Public Schools Funding and Proposed Budget Cuts to Eaton Elementary School: As the resolution states, dozens of DC Public Schools, including Eaton Elementary, have received cuts in their proposed budgets. In particular, Eaton will have fewer resources for students with special education needs and those whose first language isn’t English. We haven’t had the chance to discuss this extensively as a commission, but I hope my fellow commissioners support me in calling for no budget cuts to Eaton. [Sponsored by me]
Old People Are Cool Recognition Resolution of 2023: Councilmember Frumin had a ceremonial resolution which passed council this month to honor the Old People Are Cool project, led by Linked Senior and supported by Forest Hills of DC, and celebrate our District’s seniors by declaring May as “Old People Are Cool Month” in the District of Columbia. I am proposing our ANC join the Council in celebrating and recognizing the Old People are Cool project during the national celebration of Older Americans Month of May. The resolution also re-iterates the request for a Ward 3 senior wellness center which the ANC passed last year, sponsored by former Commissioner Finley. [Sponsored by me]
Please reach out to me if you have comments about any of these, and please email all@anc3c.org so we can understand your opinion about all these issues. To keep up to date on what the ANC is considering, I also encourage you to sign up for our mailing list.
This week’s super constituent
I cannot do my work without your help, so I always take the chance to celebrate a constituent who helped make our neighborhood better. Jonathan Mayer reached out to me last year to inquire about the secure bike lockers that were next to the Cleveland Park metro stop, and had been removed and subsequently destroyed by WMATA at the request of DDOT without informing the community. He did all the hard work in understanding why it happened, and worked with me to draft the resolution we are considering this month. Because of Jonathan, I found out something about our neighborhood I didn’t know, and also how to advocate for it better. There’s still a number of steps before these lockers are returned, but in the meantime, please do thank Jonathan for all his work for the community! If you see these lockers returned, you will know that it was a super constituent who made it happen.
