The Cleveland Park 3C05 Newsletter from Sauleh Siddiqui [March 10th]
Welcome to my fourth Newsletter!
Keeping you updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood
I hope to use this email newsletter as a way to keep everyone updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood. I promise not to spam you all and would love feedback on what to include!
The Medium Rare Pergola is Up!
Thank you to all those who wrote in support of Medium Rare! After our ANC supported this last fall, it’s great to see the pergola up and ready to go. You can see more daytime photos here.
Outcomes of ANC 3C Committee Meetings
We had three committee meetings this week discussing various issues. No decisions are made at these meetings, but at our next full meeting on March 20th at 7pm, be sure to watch out for the following resolutions:
Resolution regarding Restaurant Caps
Resolution Supporting Tenants’ Rights and Rent Stabilization
Resolution regarding HPRB Application for 3401 Newark St. NW
There will be a more full agenda published on our website on Monday.
Resolution Supporting Tenants’ Rights and Rent Stabilization in ANC 3C
Many thanks to Beau Finley, Kathy Gibbons, Luke Lanciano, Harry Gural, and Carren Kaston and many others for providing feedback on a draft resolution supporting tenants’ rights and rent stabilization in ANC 3C. I appreciate the input from diverse opinions and hope this resolution can be a first step to more support for tenants in our ANC.
Tregaron Bird Walks on March 11th and March 19th and Easter Egg Hunt on April 8th!
The Tregaron Conservancy is a true treasure in our neighborhood and they provide so many free events, resources, and space for our community. Join them for guided bird walks on Match 11th and March 19th. Many thanks to Sam Krause for leading the bird walks; here’s a free resource from her on Birding 101! Also, mark your calendars for the super fun Easter Egg Hunt on April 8th at 10am. It does take a lot of effort to maintain Tregaron and continue it as a valuable resource, so please consider donating to them if you can.
Join Friends of Hearst Park for a Cleanup on March 19!
Our neighborhood has so many green spaces. Further north, please join Friends of Hearst Park on Sunday March 19th at 9am to help keep Hearst Park and its surrounding streets clean! Friends of Hearst Park has sponsored three city blocks bordering the park under the City's Adopt-A-Block program and we will be holding quarterly clean-ups. Grabbers, gloves and trash bags will be available near the pool house, plus coffee.
This week’s super constituents!
I cannot do my work without your help, so each newsletter I will celebrate a constituent who helped make our neighborhood better. Newark St. NW between Connecticut Ave NW and 33rd Pl. NW has a sidewalk on only one side, as well as a stop sign which drivers speed past making this a treacherous road for pedestrians. Further, the one sidewalk has poles in the middle, making it not ADA compliant. I want to thank the neighbors who have been working for years to resolve this issue and also have recently raised awareness to help pass a resolution for traffic calming and pedestrian safety. I have been in conversation with DDOT about this issue and will keep you all posted.
