Welcome to my twenty-second Newsletter!
Keeping you updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood
I hope to use this email newsletter as a way to keep everyone updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood. I promise not to spam you all and would love feedback on what to include!
Easter Egg Hunt at Tregaron Conservancy March 30, 10am!
On Saturday, March 30, starting at 10:00 am (sharp!), Tregaron Conservancy will be hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt for kids and their families. This event is free of charge, but registration is required and must be shown at the gate. Last year, my personal guess was about 200 people and over 3500 eggs to find. Tregaron regularly organizes many such events, and is such a wonderful public space for people. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to donate to Tregaron. Each dollar counts and the number of donations really helps them show their impact to the community.
(Re-) Advocate for a New Grocery Store in Woodley Park
Woodley Park has long been in need of a grocery store, and in October 2023 ANC3C unanimously approved a letter asking the DC Public Space Committee to approve a trash enclosure for a potential grocer tenant for the former ACE Hardware space.
At the February 22, 2024 meeting of the DC Public Space Committee (PSC), the application was DENIED and therefore the ability of the residents of Woodley Park to have a grocery store in the neighborhood was also effectively DENIED.
If you support allowing the trash enclosure in order to secure a grocery store tenant in this space in Woodley Park and oppose the decision of the Public Space Committee, please sign the petition here. The petition will close on March 31, 2024 and will be sent to the City Administrator to attempt to appeal the PSC decision. Please also thank Commissioner Adam Prinzo (3C02@anc.dc.gov) for all his work!
Celebrate the Promenade on Saturday, April 6th, 4-6pm!
Thanks to the tireless work of Commissioner Pagats and Commissioner Gordon, the Cleveland Park Promenade is now breathing new life into our neighborhood! Join us for a Party on the Promenade! There will be a ribbon cutting, participation and specials from businesses, live performances, and a thank-you card for the construction workers. Bring your family and friends!
Welcome (yet) another new business to Cleveland Park!
Business is booming with the new housing at the Macklin and the public space on the Promenade. At our last ANC meeting, I yielded the floor to Caitlin Tuttle, co-owner of PLNTR, who will be opening their second location at 3404 Connecticut Ave NW. They are partnering with another local business to create a new concept, Vinery, will be both a houseplant and natural wine shop!
Macklin Update
The crane has come down! The work that needed the crane has finished, and the project is now transitioning into the next phase. You'll be seeing activity resume at the site in a couple of weeks.
Thanking super constituents!
A lot of the work I do cannot happen without the support of you all who point out issues to me. This week, I want to thank Doug Green, who spearheaded the ANC resolution and effort to get traffic calming on 33rd Pl. NW. We will now get two speed humps as well as a one-way street so people do not speed across this residential street. In addition, Trish Berman from Eaton Elementary has been leading the effort to get traffic calming close to Eaton Elementary, which includes 33rd Pl. NW. Her ideas were instrumental in the ANC resolution and DDOT will now be implementing this calming around Eaton as well Thank you Doug and Trish!
