Welcome to my tenth Newsletter!
Keeping you updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood
I hope to use this email newsletter as a way to keep everyone updated on what’s happening in the neighborhood. I promise not to spam you all and would love feedback on what to include!
Uptown Shuffle this Sunday June 4th from 12-4pm!
The Uptown Shuffle returns to the Sam's Park & Shop. Co-presented with the Cleveland Park Community Association, join for an afternoon of dancing, games, food and fun in the parking lot of Sam’s Park and Shop on June 4, 2023 from 12-4PM.
Street “No Parking” Signs During Construction
There's a lot of construction happening in the neighborhood, both public and private. Please continue to observe the "No Parking" signs even if the parking spots seem empty, they aren't there to store vehicles and equipment, but for the need of moving large vehicles for construction. There might be danger of your car getting hit if you park there and they will start ticketing soon.
Resolutions passed at our previous ANC 3C Meeting
Our previous ANC 3C meeting saw the following resolutions passed. You would think that outdoor space for schools, bus transit, the service lane, and affordable housing have nothing in common, but in fact there is one thing that impacts them all: parking. I encourage you to listen to this NPR interview to learn how!
2023-CONSENT A Resolution in Support of Additional Design Concept Options for the Modernization of the Adams Campus of Oyster-Adams Bilingual School [Sponsored by Commissioner Prinzo]
2023-CONSENT Resolution Regarding WMATA “Visionary Network” for Bus Routes and Schedules [Sponsored by Commissioner Kripke, Pagats, and myself]
2023-011 Resolution Regarding the ‘Service Lane’ along the East Side of the 3300-3400 block of Connecticut Avenue NW between Macomb and Ordway Streets NW [Sponsored by Commissioner Gordon and myself]
2023-012 Resolution Regarding the Connecticut Avenue Development Guidelines [Sponsored by all Commissioners who represent Connecticut Avenue] You can learn more about this in this FAQ document I have prepared.
This week’s super constituent and thanking a government employee!
I cannot do my work without your help, so I want to celebrate a constituent who helped make our neighborhood better. This week, Sue Stephens told me about a tree close to 3600 Connecticut Avenue NW that has been looking sick for a while. I reached out to District Department of Transportation-Urban Forestry, where Vera Ertem was very quick to let us know that the trees seem to have Bacterial Leaf Scorch, for which unfortunately there is no effective treatment. The good news us DDOT-UFD is keeping track and monitoring the trees. Two oak trees and one elm tree are scheduled to be pruned around this intersection. Many thanks to Sue for pointing this out and to Vera from DDOT-UFD for following up!
